Explore the spaces between organisational expectations of productivity and engagement , individual wellbeing, and a duty of care.
The purpose of these Conversations is to create space for coaches to think together about the issues that matter most.
These are reflective conversations where coaches come together to think, learn, from and with each other exploring topics that impact our work.
As coaches we are often invited into the space between organisational expectations of productivity and engagement, and individual wellbeing
A client is exhausted. Performance is slipping.
Confidence is shaken. The organisation wants results.
The individual needs support. They are reluctant to seek help.
So, what is our responsibility?
Recent legal cases have brought duty of care into sharp focus.
In March 2026, the High Court awarded a former employee nearly £1m in damages for work-related psychological injury, ruling that employers cannot simply rely on counselling services or private healthcare to discharge their duty of care. Warning signs need to be actioned on and risk assessments are relevant for physical AND mental health.
Where does that leave us as coaches?
- What is our duty of care when a client is struggling?
- How do we support without crossing professional boundaries?
- When should we challenge?
- When should we simply hold space?
- When is referral the right course of action?
This conversation will explore these questions and more through shared reflection, experience and dialogue.
I am influenced by Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment so you can expect a space that encourages attention, curiosity, easy and independent thinking.
These conversations are free to join. We simply ask that you make a donation to a mental health charity of your choice instead of a fee.
